Red Lantern corps Injustice 2

Atrocitus and the Red Lantern Corps in the comics.

The Red Lanterns Corps are led by Atrocitus because of the rage he felt over being imprisoned and because due to justice was not brought to the Guardians of the Universe.

Injustice 2 Comic[]

The Red Lantern Corps first appear in issue 54 when the Red Lanterns destroy the Green Lantern prison colony on Harring. The Red Lanterns surround Soranik Natu, Hal Jordan, and Thaal Sinestro. Atrocitus demands to have Sinestro and orders the Red Lanterns to kill Soranik. When Sinestro shields Soranik, Atrocitus questions Soranik's relationship with Sinestro, where Sinestro reveals Soranik is his daughter and the fighting temporarily halts. The Red Lanterns are then ambushed by Green Lanterns Arisia, Iolande, and Jimwick, who kill the Red Lantern, Haggor and engage in combat with the Red corps. Sinestro attempts to take Haggor's red power ring for himself, however Hal manages to take it from him and becomes a Red Lantern. Now armed with a Red power ring, Hal fights against the Red Lantern corps in order to allow the Green Lanterns to escape back to Oa. Hal is eventually overwhelmed by the Red Lantern Corps, but Atrocitus is impressed with Hal's level of control over the power ring and recruits him into the Red Lanterns. Bleez then questions how they will obtain Sinestro despite the Green Lanterns taking him to Oa, however Atrocitus knows in order to take on the Green Lantern Corps he will need to recruit a powerful ally.

The Red Lanterns arrive to an unknown location where Atrocitus holds a red power ring and slams it into the ground. The ground begins to transform and awakens Starro the conqueror, now powered with the rage of a Red Lantern Ring. With their advantage secured, the Red Lantern Corps flies towards Oa. Hal's Hallucination of Guy convinces him that Starro won't stop with Oa, and will destroy the universe. Hal is able to fight his rage and races off to warn the Green Lantern Corps. Despite Hal's attempts, he is unsuccessful as Starro and the Red Lantern Corps invade Oa. Starro begins to release thousands of rage fueled spores which control several Green Lanterns, including the guardian, Sayd. The Red Lanterns and the mind-controlled Green Lanterns begin to devastate the remaining Green Lanterns. Starro, the Red Lanterns and the mind-controlled Green Lanterns then concentrate their fire and release a devastating energy blast at the central power battery, breaching it. Starro considers Oa conquered and begins to leave the planet, however the remaining Green Lanterns grow desperate and recruit Hal, Sinestro, and Lobo as Green Lanterns. Now revitalized, the Green Lanterns and the Teen Titans counter-attack the Red Lanterns.

The fighting enters a stalemate with several Green Lanterns being freed from Starro, but also many of the remaining being slayed by the Red Lanterns. Until Hal demands to take charge of the Green Lanterns and focuses their attack on the mind-controlled Sayd. Hal is successful in knocking her out, and Superboy frees Sayd, along with the remaining Green Lanterns. The Green Lanterns push back the Red Lanterns and Atrocitus calls for a retreat. Despite Bleez and Dex-starr deeming the invasion a failure, Atrocitus reassures them it is no loss because Starro is a Red Lantern, Sinestro has been killed, and the Green Lanterns have been weakened by this attack.

Injustice 2[]

Atrocitus repeatedly tries to corrupt Hal by targeting his self-loathing but Hal is successful in fighting off his rage. Atrocitus and Dex-Starr then appear to Hal Jordan to recruit him to his corps in order to gain vengeance on Sinestro and his Corps for killing million of people. However Hal resists their efforts and forces the two to leave empty-handed.
