About Atrocitus[]
Atros was born on the planet Ryut in Sector 666. Sometime after reaching adulthood, he met a woman named Ferta, who he quickly fell in love with. After they married, Ferta bore Atros two children, Limmy and Trakka. When Limmy and Trakka were young children, the intergalactic police androids known as the manhunters, which were created by the immortal and ultra-intelligent Guardians of the Universe, malfunctioned and began to murder organic life forms on a genocidal scale. When the manhunters reached Sector 666, Atros, who lost Ferta, Trekka, and Limmy in the purge, was one of five life forms who survived. Consumed with anger and grief, he exacted vengeance upon the manhunters stationed in Sector 666, battling them with all of the strength and power he could muster until his civilization—-and the planet on which it stood—-were completely and utterly reduced to ash. In the aftermath of the massacre, he was discovered by the four other beings that survived the massacre. They went on to be known as The Five Inversions. They collectively blamed the Guardians for the purge of 666, slaughtering servants who worked for the guardians using blood magic. Eventually they formed The Empire of Tears, which they based on the planet Ysmault. Atros even kidnapped and killed a Guardian of the Universe at one point with his bare hands. Many eons later, when the Empire of Tears was finally defeated by the Green Lantern Corps, The former were left behind on their former base of operations. Atros killed his former comrades and used their blood to unlock the red light of rage, and constructed the central power battery. Empowering the rage within himself, he founded the Red Lantern Corps. His power ring replaced his heart and gave him the power to channel his rage into light. With the central power battery he constructed and his power ring, he christened himself “Atrocitus”. He would then serve as leader of the Red Lantern Corps. He constructed more power rings and handpicked the most hate-fuelled beings in the galaxy, and gifted them with the power rings he created. They would become the first generation of the Red Lantern Corps. He would later become a formidable adversary of Green Lantern.
About Dex-Starr[]
Dexter was originally a stray, abandoned domestic cat with unusual blue fur, who was adopted from a local animal shelter by a single human woman living in Brooklyn, New York, on Earth, who named him Dexter. One day, someone broke into her home. Dexter put forth a brave defense, but although he did managed to injure the burglar, his claws were not enough to fend him off. The intruder killed Dexter’s female owner right in front of him. When the police arrived, they saw Dexter as a nuisance who was ruining the crime scene and literally kicked him out of his home, unaware that he lived with the victim. Ejected from the only proper home he had ever known, Dexter fell into a deep, lonely depression, and had no choice but to live out the rest of his days alone, homeless, friendless, and without an owner to love and care for him. Because of this, Dexter was reduced to an alley cat. After he found a place to sleep in an alley, he was found by two hoodlums who forcefully stuffed him into a sack and tossed him into a River. Before he could land in the water, Atrocitus, founder and leader of the Red Lantern Corps, recognized the rage and sorrow lurking in Dexter’s broken, feline heart, and called out to him, renaming him “Dex-Starr”, unsure how his name was actually spelled, as a red power ring, drawn to Dex-Starr’s anguish and rage, chose and flew to him. The ring itself, which he would wear on his tail, he would first use to kill the two hoodlums who stuffed him in a sack. After this, he flew to his late owner’s house and mourned her, by somberly cuddling up to her skeletal remains and bawling in his own feline way. He would then vow to someday find the one responsible for killing his owner and exact his vengeance. Eventually he was summoned to the planet Ysmault to meet Atrocitus, as all Red Lantern recruits were. Upon meeting each other, Atrocitus and Dex-Starr would bond with each other, the former seeing the latter as a pet, and the latter seeing the former as his favorite living being and the two would go on many missions together. As of the present day, it is unknown what ultimately became of the intruder who killed Dex-Starr’s original owner. It is possible that the intruder was among those killed by the regime for being a murderer.
Biography[]
Red Lantern Atrocitus seeks revenge against all members of the Green Lantern Corps for their murderous oppression of his homeworld. His hate blazes a path across the galaxy leading him to Earth. Sensing an opportunity on the post Regime planet, Atrocitus focuses on bolstering the Red Lanterns ranks by stoking the flames of rage. In his quest for vengeance, he killed Abin Sur and set up the events leading to the Blackest Night.
Injustice: Gods Among Us[]
Atrocitus appears in the background of the Metropolis (Rooftop) Stage, fighting Kilowog in the sky.
In one of the S.T.A.R. Labs missions, Atrocitus aids Sinestro into taking over Earth and can be used for an attack when needed.
Though not a direct participant of the battle with the Regime. Atrocitus stated that he observed Hal's actions as a Yellow Lantern and taking note of all the innocents he slaughtered.
Injustice 2[]
During Green Lantern's visit to Atlantis, Atrocitus attempts to stoke Hal's rage, evidenced by red energy surrounding Hal's eyes after certain events make Hal angry. This occur several times throughout the story.
After Green Lantern defeats Bane, Atrocitus and Dex-Starr make their presence known, with Aquaman expressing his surprise of the existence of Red Lanterns and Hal explains their nature and volunteers to fight the Red Lantern "ring to ring."
As the two circle each other, Atrocitus confirms his interference in Hal's mind, telling him of his time as Yellow Lantern, causing his victims to demand vengeance, and how all his crimes are not absolved even as a Green Lantern. Atrocitus states Dex-Starr's intention of ripping Hal's heart out but states his own observation of a spark of rage within Hal and vomits on him. As Green Lantern begins to suffer from the surge of anger, Atrocitus presents the writhing Hal with a Red Lantern Ring and asks him if he can forgive himself. As the ring moves closer, Atrocitus urges Hal to submit to his rage and become a Red Lantern but is blasted back as Green Lantern regains control.
The two Lanterns fight, and Atrocitus is defeated. He leaves but tells Hal of his world burning and swears that Hal will beg for vengeance in the future. Atrocitus is not seen after this point in the story, but he continues to influence Hal indirectly.

Ending[]
My punishment of Brainiac's crimes had unintended consequences. His death disabled his ship. Billions of collected souls perished. I did not know they could be restored. Their deaths unleashed such rage, my Red Lanterns were overwhelmed. They drove me from Ysmault. They would have killed me, if not for Proselyte. The emotional entity offered me compassion, not rage, in the face of my grave error. I now understand the emotional spectrum requires balance. My Red Lanterns' rage must punish the worst offenders. But it cannot blindly consume those who deserve compassion.
Costumes[]
Atrocitus has red, rock-like skin with glowing yellow eyes and has the Red Lantern logo on his chest. To the right is the base skin for Atrocitus, Red Lantern. He is wearing his default gear. The remainder of his costumes can be found on his gallery page.
Trivia[]
- Atrocitus is voiced by Ike Amadi, who previously voiced him in LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham and Infinite Crisis.
- In his possible ending, Atrocitus unites all Lanterns into one corps; this likely could lead to a third Injustice game.
